An uncommon pairing in a pot.

Sometimes potting two unlikely companions in a container has a lucky result.

A venturesome gardener can imagine a Coleus FlameThrower series ‘Chili Pepper’ (Solenostemon scutellarioides) and a Silver Nickel Vine ‘Silver Falls’ (Dichondra sericea) growing in the same planter.
The coleus stands bright and tall above the silver nickel vine that drapes over the edge of the terra cotta pot. The dramatic combination of contrasting leaf colors, shapes, patterns and textures invites a double take and a smile.
GARDEN WALK photographs were made for the South Bend Art Museum Art League during their annual “Arts in Bloom” Garden Walks. The images were used for social media, promotions and education.
