A simple place to relax and unwind.

As with a vintage house, the porch of a modern home can be a place to relax and reenergize.
Though not hidden from the street, shrubs and tall perennials create a comforting screen for the residents while colorful annuals make a cheerful border.
The small garden provides privacy as well as a place to watch birds at the bath and bees and butterflies on the pink Blazing star (Liatris sp.) stems. Evergreen shrubs and a small viburnum shelter the nook while zinnias border the bed with bright colors. And a toad house provides shelter for a welcome resident.
GARDEN WALK photographs were made for the South Bend Art Museum Art League during their annual "Arts in Bloom" Garden Walks. The images were used for social media, promotions and education.
